11 a.m. - I am just having a normal day at work (or so I think) when I'm told to go out to pick up some boxes. I walk out and see my little sister from sorority in her car. At first it doesn't hit me that she's there for me. "Hi big!!! Get in the car!! C'mon!" I look behind me and my boss (also, long time family friend. She's known me since I was born) and her daughter are sneaking back into the building. I get in the car and there's my little with a blue balloon that says "The Spirit of Adventure" and my computer. She plays a video and it's Cameron. He says that he lied and he didn't go do dinner with the friend he said he was at dinner with the previous night. He was, in fact, at dinner planning our adventure with Tanisha. At this point, I know what the end result of the day is going to be but I don't know where I'm going next or what we're doing. That was the adventure part of it. He knows I'm not too easily surprised and he knew I would figure it out pretty quickly and that's why he did it this way. I decide to not ask questions and go with the flow.
11 a.m. - 12ish - Tanisha and I get in some good big and little time at Grillin' and Chillin' downtown Hollister. I hadn't seen her in a while and I was happy I got to spend the day catching up and laughing with her. I also got to see my good friend Christian who cooks at Grillin' and Chillin'. Instantly I could tell he was in on it based on his "adventure is out there" speech. That's when I starting thinking that there were more people involved than I thought. I had just calmed down from my little picking me up and my nerves were starting to boil up again. The entire day my stomach was in knots and my heart was pounding. When we got in the car after lunch there was another video. This one was from Cullen, Cameron's best friend and best man. He told me my next stop was to get my hair done at Dimensions of Style (and he did it in a very Cullen fashion). I was soo excited cause I definitely needed a haircut.
12:30 (a half an hour early...oops!) - We show up to Dimensions of Style and I am so happy I get to see Sheryl and Dana who I have known my entire life. In fact, this is the same place I got my first hair cut. "SO! What are we doing with your hair today?!" Sheryl asks. "uhhmm..I'm not sure...I don't really know what's going on today!" I said back. But in my head, I was thinking well if this is for what I think it is, I want to keep my hair long, since I want long hair for my wedding. *wink wink* So, we did a quick trim and added some layers and she straightened it (which is a hard job on it's own) and added some braids. I loved this part of the day. We had some great conversations with family and I had a wonderful time!
1:15 p.m. - Tanisha and I get back in the car and I have another video, this time its from one of my best friends, also a sorority sister. She told me that I was going to go get a manicure because "if she knows me at all, I need it." aaaaand she was right. My nails were gross. But, we were still early so Tanisha and I decided to go to Mars Hill and get some smoothies that were pretty dang good!! We got to spend a little more one on one time together. I love the fact that I got to spend so much special time with her.
My appointment was at 2:15 for my nails. As I was sitting there waiting to get my nails done, I felt like a little girl again. I was excited I got to get gel and I got to pick out the color. I thought about the possibility of what might happen later and I was more nervous than I had been before. With a little help from Tanisha I was able to pick out the color, a super cute coral pink!
3:00 p.m. - Alright, I've got my hair done and my nails done. What the heck else could we possibly do? "Alright big, you have to close your eyes until I give you the computer and press play." uhh oook, so I close my eyes and when I open them who might be on the screen?...Leo Camacho! I screamed and had a slight fan girl moment. Leo is an amazing YouTube and cosplay aficionado. I first saw him in Traci Hine's video "Part of Your World" where he played the practically perfect Prince Eric. I mean, those eyebrows...they were perfect for the part. Since then Cam and I have met him Sarah another awesome YouTube personality, in Disneyland at Mad T Party. Anywho...He told me I was going to a Tea Party at Joshua Inn! Weee! "This is it!" I thought, "he's going to be there and this is it!" So off to the Inn we went! There we were met by Greg in his Peter Pan hat. He led us to the gazebo where a little table was set up for four people. Tanisha and I sat down and then out came Tricia and my actual little sister! We got to put on awesome hats and have a nice tea party. It was so weird not having to work or clean up when we finished, but it was nice. I loved that I got to spend some time with both my little sisters and Tricia and Greg. Although Cameron wasn't at the Inn, that just meant there were more adventures to be had.
4:00 p.m. - "Here's your last video!" This was it! I was a little sad this adventure was ending but was excited to see what was going to happen. My last video was my 7th grade teacher and family friend, Catherine. She said we were going to a place I have never been but it's exactly like the place we are now. uhm. ok? "Off to Monterey!!" And we were off.
5:00 p.m. - We arrive at an adorable little bed and breakfast in Monterey. The woman who owned the place was the cutest and very helpful. She showed us around and I was able to piece together the fact that we were staying the night. Alright, awesome. She took us into the bedroom and a new dress and new shoes were laid out for me. Alongside the clothes was an Elvis CD. Our song is "Can't help Falling in Love" and that's when I knew what was about to happen. After many minutes of us trying to find a CD player, we remembered we have a computer (duh!) and I was able to get all pretty with my little. We danced around doing hair and makeup like we were middle schoolers getting ready for their first school dance. I was extremely nervous at this point. "Are you ready to go, big?" "Nope." and off we went.
6:00 p.m. - It took us at least 10 minutes to get out of the driveway and a good laugh was definitely needed because my nerves were through the roof. "Ok big put 'Asilomar Confrence Center' in your phone." Holy moly, I know where that is. That's where he first told me he loved me. Here it is. This is the moment. I am trying to take everything in and soak up what I'm feeling. This is probably why I am able to write this two and half weeks later. We park, and get out of the car. My little fumbling with the camera and not exactly knowing where we are kind of lightened up the mood. And then I saw him...well I saw the big bunch of balloons first, then I saw him standing there with his blazer and bow tie looking just like Carl from "UP." Let me tell you, that was the longest walk of my life. I hear a camera and I turn around and see my cousin, John taking pictures. And I thought, "wow there are a lot more people involved in this thing." I had NO IDEA. When I got up to him, he started talking and I started soaking everything in. He got down on one knee and said, "Laura Marie Delano, will you marry me?" Instantly I answered yes. But, just a few days before we watching Parks and Recreation and Leslie told her boyfriend to wait when he proposed so she can take in the moment. Soooo...I did that...even though I already said yes. So, it was a yes!..wait...I'm taking in the moment.....YES!!! And there were big hugs and kisses and a loud "YAY!!!" from my little!
6:30ish p.m. - My little and my cousin disappeared and Cam and I went for a walk, like we had a year and a half ago in that exact place. "So where are we going to dinner? My little got all dressed up so I'm assuming we are meeting people for dinner!" "I don't know what you're talking about?" (Yeah he did. Like I said, he knows I'm not easy to surprise.) I asked him so many questions and yes he had planned for months and yes he asked my father...and my stepmother, and my grandparents, and my mom, and Greg and Tricia. He had a long list to say the least. As we were walking, I start seeing members of my family, even ones that live far away. There was an entire engagement party with members from both of our families and our friends. I had told him I wanted my family to be involved. My family is so important to me and I wanted them to be there. He pulled through, let me tell you. My fiancé did it right and now we're getting married. A year from yesterday, we will be at our wedding. I am so excited to begin this new adventure with my soon to be husband. Wow, that is so weird to say. I hope you enjoyed this rather lengthy post but it was such a perfect day and I wanted to share it with all of you. There will be a video posted soon. So stay tuned!
